This fundraiser is for not only for my boyfriend's, but also for my best bestfriend 's Aunt Marilyn McMurray. This family needs to get their loved one buried as soon as possible. Now Marilyn has a final expense policy for $9690.81. Except that her beneficiary of that policy was her brother Sherman McMurray who passed away last year. The insurance company Mutual of Omaha told the family that they can not just pay it to the funeral home which is Stevens and Bean in Fresno, California, because only the beneficiary has the authority to make that decisions. But they are sending a check to the Executor of Marilyn McMurrays Estate. Which there is not an estate nor an executor of one.
Also that since there is no beneficiary now and that since she lived in the state of California that the state law requires for the family to file with the State of California first to see if there is an estate for her because she didnt have a will drawn up before she passed away. ( We all know how long the State of California takes to do anything especially in the courts process. So that alone could takes months even without the COVID 19 pandemic closure. ) Then if if the State of California decides that she doesnt have an estate then they will send a different check to the next of kin. For all we know that could literally take months or up to 1 year. There is no way that this family can wait for that long to bury their loved one. Thats just crazy, and the funeral home wants their $7500.00 at time of service rendered. So I am pleading too anybody and everybody who can help this family every little bit counts. I know that times have been very hard and money has been tight for everyone due to the COVID 19. But please anything will help this family. Things like this makes me want to emphasize to people, to make sure please make sure that you do
make a will and tie up any loose ends if you are able to so that your family that you leave behind in the world dont have to go through the fianacial worries of " how are we gonna do this?" Along with the grieving of losing a loved one. The cost of burying a loved one or even cremation is expensive either way. This cost of $7500.00 is just the basic funeral cost that is without flowers, just the basic casket. The least as possible just to get her buried. Luckily her parents bought plots for all of the children and themselves many, many years ago. Contribute
