Marilyn's obituary

Marilyn Lou Contreras, 88, of El Paso, Texas, passed away peacefully on 5/28/2022. surrounded by family and loved ones. Marilyn grew up in Terre Haute, Indiana, but also called New Castle, Indiana and Houston, Texas her home before moving to El Paso. Marilyn spent her life as a Registered Nurse, High School Teacher and business owner.

Marilyn attended Indiana State University for Nurses Training and St. Frances University obtaining a BS in Education. She was a nurse for many years, ranging from work in hospitals, migrant camps and started the Mexican nurse program Crossover to Success. Marilyn also taught High School Health Occupations and was the advisor to many state and national officers and champions in both Texas and Indiana. She was an avid sports fan and loved her Cubs and Yankees as well as college and professional basketball. She contributed many hours and energy to the success of many throughout her life. She will be dearly missed and always remembered.

Marilyn Contreras was predeceased by her parents, William Russel Willis and Nellie Willis, and her beloved brother, Richard Willis. She is survived by 4 daughters Sheryl Peck, Beth Miller, Amy Wolfe and Elissa Contreras, as well as multiple grandchildren. Marilyn requested a celebration of life be held in her honor as opposed to traditional funeral services. We request all of Marilyn’s loved ones to join us in celebrating her beautiful life.
