Marilyn's obituary

It is with sadness that we announce the departure of our mother, Marilyn Boland, who peacefully passed away on April 22, 2025 after her battle with Alzheimers. Born on September 15, 1946 and always lived her life full of energy and fun.

She is survived by her children – daughters Dorine Walker and Kim Russ, and son David Gatenby. Her siblings, Margaret (Margie) Jones and Maureen  (Moe) Fairchild, and her grandchildren Katlin (Katie) Walker, Jake Gatenby, Lindsay Walker,  Kylie Gatenby, Arika Zemola, and Nathan Zemola.

Known for her vibrant personality, Marilyn was a woman who loved bright and exotic colors. Animal prints, orange hue, and anything shiny brought joy to her life, a reflection of her flamboyant persona. Her excitement and love for life could also be traced in her favorite music and dancing-including the Talented Teens dance group in high school and her enjoyment decorating for the holidays. She was also a keen enthusiast of games, with Scrabble and Spoons being her absolute favorites.

Marilyn was also a lover of the outdoors, love the sun, searching for shells on the beach and tending to her flowers, an activity which she found solace and immense pleasure in. Her love for the beach, with Florida being one of her favorite vacation spots. Her trips to Florida were always something that she looked forward to, as the place held a special appeal for her which eventually perpetuated her move to Florida

As we bid farewell to Marilyn Boland, we celebrate her vibrant spirit, her love for her family, and her zest for life. She left us rich with memories, and she will forever remain in our hearts.
