I did not know Marilyn very well although we were neighbors. She was full of life and always on the go. Every time I looked out my front window she was either coming home or on her way out. Marilyn always had a smile on her face and always stopped to chat if I was outside. Funny thing my husband and I have a red car and our dogs know when my husband is coming home because of the red car. When Marilyn moved in she also owned a red car which really confused my dogs. Everytime she came home my dogs would spring into action thinking their daddy was home and waited at the door for him to come in I tried to explain to them that that was Marilyn’s car and not their daddy’s but of course they are dogs you can’t reason with them 😄😄 I was so looking forward to getting to know her more.i am very saddened to have losses a wonderful ne I did not know Marilyn very well although we were neighbors. I had the pleasure of serving on the Education Board with Marilyn at Ohio University and additionally served as her superintendent in Grandview Heights while she was living on Second Ave. Marilyn practiced service leadership in all her endeavors. There never was a more hardworking, generous person who gave her all to Ohio University, her teaching profession and her church community-Cathi and I will miss out great times together-save room for us upstairs, Marilyn!
Marilyn and I shared many wonderful times together as OU Bobcat alumni, OSU Buckeye alumni, members of CEA-R, our love of Grandview and even attended church together! I will cherish her friendship and miss her so much!
Marilyn was ever the teacher, and as such she was gently but relentlessly persuasive! When she would envision a task to be done or idea to be realized, she naturally swept other folks up with her enthusiasm and enlisted them to make it happen. Just like her obedient students, we couldn't say no. One example is when she decided to stage a museum tent for the COVVC's Volksfest car show and convinced members of the COVVC to provide items for display, including T-shirts from years past. The museum was a great hit. I appreciated Marilyn's great enthusiasm and will miss that especially. --Teresa and Doug Schleifer
