Dear Relatives and Friends,

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Marie Banks, born September 22, 1951, whose life journey ended on April 30, 2025.  Marie Banks Armstead was born in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of Dorothy Russell Armstead and Fulton Preston Armstead.  Sisters, Fronie Epps and Kay James predeceased Marie in death.  The love of her life, Joe "Chuck" Banks, passed unexpectedly in 2022.

Marie, a spirited and cherished member of our community, leaves behind her beloved sister, Josephine Hodges, along with a host of extended family, friends, and colleagues. An accomplished cartographer, Marie worked in St. Louis, Missouri map making departments for many years and generated lifelong friendships with her coworkers.  She has been both a steadfast mentor and loving mother figure to numerous family members and friends.  

Throughout her remarkable life, Marie's kindness and love touched all who knew her. She shall be remembered with warmth and affection for her grace and generosity of spirit. Her absence is deeply felt, and her memory continues to inspire and uplift those who were privileged to know her. May she find everlasting peace and bring forth light in eternity as she did in life. Our thoughts and love are with Josephine and her numerous family and friends during this difficult time.  Let the stregnth of her beautiful spirit continue to inspire us.
