Marie's obituary
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Marie Antoinette Aldrich, a beloved mother, dog grandmother to Sophia Marie, and free spirit who passed away at the age of 65. She was the eldest daughter of Fred and Lupe Aldrich. Marie was born in San Diego, California and graduated from Granite Hills High School in El Cajon, CA.
Marie was a true hippie at heart, living life on her own terms and always following her own path. She loved spending time with her daughter and granddog, and cherished every moment she spent with them. Her independent spirit and kind heart made her a lifelong friend. She was affectionately known by her family and friends as “Mert” or “Mertle”.
As a single mother, Marie faced many challenges, but she never let them deter her from staying true to her principles. She moved from San Diego to Lake Tahoe then Albuquerque, New Mexico, before eventually returning to her hometown of El Cajon, California. She worked as a medical office manager for 20 years. In her free time, Marie enjoyed solving puzzle books, playing her violin and keeping her mind busy. She had dreams of buying a Minnie Winnie and traveling the country.
She is survived by her daughter Nicole Baca, granddog Sophia Marie, her partner and love, Tom Everhart, her siblings, Diana Daniels, Dana and Sherrie Aldrich and Richard Aldrich, her nieces and nephews, Eric Sprague, Ryan Sprague, Julie Puzzo, Elaine Twomey, Makayla Aldrich, Kristen Aldrich, Tawnya Shy and Maci Aldrich, her lifelong friends who are family, Lori Brown, Trish Butkowski, Dana Brown, and Barbara Garrett.
Marie will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will always remember her free spirit, loud mouth and how excited she could be. She wasn’t afraid to tell things how they were and to speak her truth. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched. Rest in peace, dear Marie.
