Mickey's obituary
Maribeth "Mickey" Cockrum passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Mickey was born on March 1, 1947, in Alton, Illinois, to Lloyd and Pearl Dildine. She grew up alongside her siblings, Linda Tate and Roy Dildine. On April 29, 1967, she married Larry Cockrum, the love of her life, beginning a nearly 50-year journey together filled with love and devotion.
She was a dedicated mother to her two children, Christi Oropeza and Craig Cockrum. Her family grew with three cherished grandchildren—Marissa Wilson, Brinkley Simpson, and Caleb Oropeza—and three beloved great-grandchildren: Liam and Landen Wilson and Noah Oropeza. Mickey found her greatest joy in the love of her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Despite the challenges Parkinson’s presented, Mickey faced life with grace and resilience. She will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family and friends and the strength she displayed in adversity.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Pearl Dildine; her brother Roy Dildine; and her husband Larry Cockrum.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Mickey's honor on Friday, January 31 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at NorthRock Church, located at 8690 Liberty Road in Aubrey, Texas. Mom asked that everyone wear red, her favorite color.
Mickey’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her. May her legacy of love, laughter and perseverance bring comfort to all who knew her.
