Marian's obituary

Marian Lucille Chodzko, 89, passed away on July 29, 2020 after contracting an infection.

Marian was born in November of 1930 to James Glenn and Florence Stalbaum NEE Sibbrell? in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Elston High School in Michigan City, Indiana, class of 1949.

She met Aloysius (Al) Chodzko, and they wed in December, 1953. The couple settled in Chicago and raised 3 daughters, Kathleen (Robert) O’Dwyer, Gail (James) Sprague, and Patricia (LATE Frank) Moraza.

Marian managed a school cafeteria at Altgeld Elementary School for most of her career. She was passionate about feeding children. No child was ever turned away if she could help it, and it didn’t matter if they could pay or not.

Al and Marian enjoyed traveling. They had many adventures camping all across the United States with their daughters. Together they achieved their goal of visiting all 50 states. National Parks were always her favorite destinations!

Marian was predeceased by her husband Al, her sister Mary Staranowicz, and her brother James Stalbaum. She is survived by her brother Ronald Stalbaum, her daughters and sons-in-law, and 8 grandchildren, Scott Obirek, Joseph Obirek, Andrew Obirek, Daniel O’Dwyer, Richard O’Dwyer, Sean O’Dwyer, Laura Moraza, and Frank (Sonny) Moraza. She was also loved by her 5 great-grandchildren, Payton, Frank, Rorie, Aidie, and Scarlett. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
