On December 10, 2022, Marian La Verne Callison Brainard passed away at 93 years old. Born 6/15/1929 in San Jose CA. She resided in San Jose CA, Marysville WA, Snohomish WA, Seal Rock OR, Centralia WA, and Oakville WA.

She was a chief surgical nurse having graduated from University of Washington School of Nursing in 1953.

She then transitioned to being a school nurse for the Mukilteo school district for more than 25 years.

Upon retirement she moved to Seal Rock OR to build a home on property she purchased with Jay as they so fondly loved the sea. She quickly built lifelong friendships with neighbors and church members. Her sister Patricia lived with her for awhile before they both eventually moved to be closer to family which brought her to Centralia WA. 

She always provided love and support to her family. She was a loving, caring individual and had many friends all over the US. She was very active in her retirement. Her faith was a significant part of her life and she participated in the episcopal congregation at St Lukes by the Sea in Waldport OR, then St Timothy’s in Chehalis WA. She was very active in PEO until she no longer could be. She will be remembered fondly by all she left behind.

She enjoyed reading, classical music, her dogs, and her family.

Marian was preceded in death by her spouse Jay Arlan, her sister Patricia Callison, and brother Robert Callison.

She is survived by her daughter Lisa Brainard, grandson Jason Prohaska (Melissa), granddaughter Jenny-Rebecca Tavis (Craig), great granddaughter Vanessa Prohaska, great grandson Jude Tavis, niece Roni Murphy (Steven), and nephew Darin Callison.
