Maria's obituary
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Maria Wakili, born January 2, 1973, and entered into eternal rest on February 27, 2024. A remarkable woman in every sense of the word, Maria left an indelible mark through her strength, humor, and love.
Maria started her journey as a NICU nurse in 2000. She was exceptionally passionate about her work, finding it to be both a calling and a reward. However, Maria was not just an extraordinary nurse but also a woman of significant personal achievements. Despite the obstacles she encountered at a young age, she turned her life around, embodying strength and resilience.
Gleaning joy in the simple pleasures of life, Maria had an unwavering love for sushi and steak. She always relished a glass of Coca-Cola, noting the unmatched taste when in a glass bottle. She had an eclectic taste in music, favoring both the lyrical genius of Tupac and the timeless tracks of Michael Jackson.
Maria was a movie buff, with particular affection for The Conjuring and the comedic relief found in Tyler Perry's films. Ghost, a tale of enduring love, was also a favorite. Her pastime activities extended beyond the silver screen, as she enjoyed shopping, walking, and dining out.
Maria's compassion extended beyond her immediate circle. She fiercely advocated for causes close to her heart, including child abuse, the addiction crisis, and providing help for the homeless. She believed in the power of acceptance and love, teaching those around her the importance of these values.
Remembering Maria, one would instantly think of her favorite color, red. A symbol of her love, strength, and fierce unity. Throughout her life, she exuded a sense of humor, was clever, and personified a strength that was unshakeable.
Maria's legacy is not just in her own accomplishments, but in the lives of her four children who loved her dearly. To them, she bequeaths her intelligence, her grounded nature, and a reminder of their strong, funny, and clever mother.
In lieu of flowers, donations to organizations fighting against child abuse, assisting the addiction crisis, or helping the homeless would be a fitting tribute to Maria's memory. Let's honor Maria by continuing to live out the lessons she taught us. Strength, acceptance, and love. She will be missed deeply, but her spirit will continue to live on through her legacy.
Love you forever
