Maria's obituary
Maria Veronica Rine, 71, of Poinciana, FL, passed away on Friday January 20th, 2023 after a long battle with COPD and Pulmonary Fibrosis.
She was born on January 9th, 1952 in Santiago, Chile; and was raised in Valencia, Venezuela, with three sisters and a brother. It was there where she married her first husband and raised her two daughters. She moved to Miami, FL in 1992 and later to the Orlando area. She was a cast member at Walt Disney World for almost 10 years, until she retired due to health issues. It was a job that she loved and where she made many friends that she treasured like family.
She had a gift for connecting with people and making lifelong friends. She was upbeat, kind, and generous, in spite of facing many challenges in life and living in constant pain for many years. She loved her family fiercely and reminded them daily of just how much with her actions and words.
She leaves behind her two daughters, Maru Ahues (Roberto Bouza) and Paulina (Allan) Hawkins; four grandchildren, Sebastian and Oliver Bouza, and Neilan and Coralie Hawkins; a daughter by choice, Melissa (Miguel) Acevedo; two sisters, Patricia and Millie Salame; ten nieces and nephews; and many people who lovingly called her "mama". She was preceded in death by her husband Leon; her parents, Yolanda and Alfredo Salame; and her siblings, Claudio and Mirta Salame.
We are deeply saddened by her passing. We know she will be missed by so many that loved her and considered her part of their family. We'd love to have you join us to honor her and share how much happiness she brought to us all.
A celebration of life will be held at Kissimmee Lakefront Park on Sunday, February 19th, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in her name to the Arthritis National Research Foundation.
