Josephine's obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maria "Josephine" Reid, known to loved ones as Josephine, on December 25, 2024. Born in 1944, she lived a full life characterized by kindness, love, and care for others.

Josephine was unmistakably a special woman with a desire to please and a heart brimming with kindness. She firmly believed in the power of compassion, often sharing that 'kindness matters' and holding the lesson that it is possible to lose oneself when caring for others. These lessons she put into practice in her life, creating a nurturing environment for her loved ones.

A great joy in Josephine's life was her family. She leaves behind her husband, Mike Reid, and her children, Michelle Reid, Consuelo Whitman Gruber, Michael Reid Jr., and Nikki Reid. Despite hardship and challenges, their upbringing is a testament to Josephine's strength, resilience, and unconditional love. She fostered an environment for them to grow and live beyond expectations, which is one of her greatest accomplishments.

Josephine's love extends to her grandchildren, Sarah Constantine, Stephanie Whitman, Christian Whitman, and Julia Whitman, all of whom were the apples of her eye. They will continue to carry her spirit and life lessons forward, keeping her memory alive. Josephine's four brothers, Richard "Joe" Gomez, Lawrence Gomez and John Gomez are devistated by the loss of their sister. She is preceeded in death by her brother Joseph Gomez.

Josephine was predeceased by her parents, Julia and Manuel Gomez, who welcomed her into this world and nurtured her loving spirit. They are undoubtedly reunited, continuing their family's legacy of love and kindness in the next life. Josephine had a contagious zest for life. Her favorite pastime was reading, and she had a particular fondness for Stephen King novels and romance literature. She also cherished spending quality time with her children and beloved pets. A simple pleasure of hers was enjoying a Diet Pepsi, a habit known affectionately by those close to her.

The legacy Josephine leaves behind is a testament to her personal faith, 'Loving God in all circumstances.' It is a testament to her spirit and the life she lived, deeply rooted in love, faith, and compassion. She will be dearly missed, but her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
