Maria's obituary

María Laura Morales, 67, of Oak Lawn, passed away on July 13, 2021 after a warrioresque battle with diabetes and heart failure.

María Laura was born on July 31st of 1953 to Maria Valcarcel and Quintino Matias in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. After graduating from Tuley high school in 1971, she married Norberto Morales. They first met in 1969 at Gore & Kaye. They married in 1973.

In 1975, they welcomed their first daughter, Marisol Morales and five years later in 1980 their second daughter, Linnette Marie Morales.

Anyone who knew Maria knew that she radiated infectious energy and a boisterous personality. You knew she was in the room. She was the life of the party, she danced and made you want to dance. She loved her family deeply, making many sacrifices to support them. She also loved her best friend, Pat Colon, immensely.

Maria was a passionate person who was welcoming and always made people feel like they were part of the family and when she wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found at Fish Lake Beach camping, We will miss her greatly.

Maria was predeceased by her parents Quintino and Maria Matias and her sister Clara. She is survived by her husband Norberto Morales, daughters, Marisol and Linnette Morales, and her three grandsons, Diego Morales Arteaga, Sebastian and Lucas Wilson. Maria is also survived by her 3 sisters, Ramonita, Flora, and Elizabeth and 6 brothers, Gilbert, Samuel, William, Danny, Eli and John along with probably hundreds of nieces and nephews. Big family, our grandparents did not have TV.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers you make a donation in her name to the Family Learning Center where she spent years as a volunteer, There will be a funeral service/memorial July 20th from 4pm-8pm at Kenny Brothers funeral home in Evergreen Park, IL.
