Maria F. Guaqueta, 61, of Greenlawn, NY passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023, surrounded by her loving husband and family.

Maria was born in Bogota, Colombia and moved to the United States on Thanksgiving Day 1972. She was excited about the opportunities granted to her and enjoyed a 36 year career as a Dental Assistant. Her happiest achievement, however, was her marriage of 38 years to her husband Tony and their three children; Elisa, John Paul, and Michael.

Known by those close to her as extremely kind and caring, she always put others before herself. She filled her home with love, laughter, meals, and memories. Despite being diagnosed with Stage IV lung and brain cancer in 2017, Maria never lost her faith or optimistic outlook on life. She reminded all those around her to live life to the fullest and her favorite times were those spent with her loved ones; whether it be salsa dancing in her kitchen, maintaining her garden, laughing with her cousins, or traveling with her family.

Maria was an example of life well-lived and full of love. She will be missed by those who knew her for her strength, positivity, kindness, and devotion to her family and friends. First and foremost a wife and mother, she leaves behind a family that will remember her example of selflessness, love, empathy and enjoyment of life.

Maria is survived by her husband, Tony Guaqueta, and their three children: Elisa (James) Guaqueta, John Paul (Chelsie) Guaqueta, and Michael Guaqueta, as well as her grandson Leonel. She is also survived by her father Numael Corredor, sister Liliana Corredor, and brother John Corredor.
