Maria's obituary

Maria Grace Garcia-Wood, age 17, passed away on September 30, 2025, in Lake Elsinore, California. Born to Isabel and George, in San Bernardino, California, Maria brought light and laughter into the lives of those who knew her.

Maria was a vibrant and spirited young woman whose personality left a lasting impression. She was known for her kindness, her sass, and her free-spirited nature. Her presence lit up any room she entered, and her unique charm made her unforgettable to friends and classmates alike.

A passionate fan of video games, Maria especially loved Sonic the Hedgehog. She found joy in writing stories inspired by the game and connecting with others online who shared her enthusiasm. Through these creative outlets, she built friendships that spanned far beyond her immediate community.

Maria faced life’s challenges with courage and resilience. She had recently endured the heartbreaking loss of her father, George Paul Wood, who died of cancer at the age of 35. Despite this profound grief, she continued to dream big—hoping one day to attend college in San Diego. Her mother, Isabel, worked tirelessly to support Maria’s aspirations and stood by her with unwavering love.

A funeral service will be held at a later date to honor Maria’s memory and celebrate the joy she brought into the world.

Dearest Lord,

We entrust Maria to your undying mercy and love.

While in this life, she felt much pain and found life difficult.

May you enfold her now with your love where no pain can find her,

but rather your love can heal her.

Make her a Guardian Angel for those who struggle with life,

for those who struggle to see you and the love that is around them.

Give her Lord, kind admittance to your Kingdom

and bring comfort to her family.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

May Maria’s memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
