Maria Francis, 66, of Chesapeake, VA, passed away on July 01, 2022 from her battle with cancer. Maria was born on February 29, 1956 to Grace and William Linker in Philadelphia, PA. In 1981 she met George Francis and they wed in 1982. Together they had four beautiful daughters, Melinda, Donna, Alicia and Barbara. Maria loved to serve her community and did so by working as a school custodian, she went on to get a degree in Special Education from Tidewater Community College then went on to become a substitute teacher in the city of Chesapeake, VA. Maria decided to dedicate her life to being a fantastic wife and wonderful mother. Maria excelled at supporting her family through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. She was a passionate homemaker and when she wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found in her home knitting. We will miss her greatly. Maria was predeceased by her mother and father Grace and William Linker her sisters Shirley, Wendy and brother John. She is survived by her loving husband retired Navy Veteran George, daughter Melinda husband Matt and children Adrain, Wyatt and Grace, daughter Donna and Adam and children William and Aurora, daughter Alicia and daughter Barbara and husband Michael and child Cara, as well as her brothers Michael and David. The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to their home of 1009 Shell Road, Chesapeake, VA 23323. There will be a Celebration of life on 9 July 2022 at 1200 at the same location.
