Maria Del Carmen's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Maria Del Carmen Arredondo, "Tita", who passed away on January 11, 2025. Born to the late Felipe and Domitila Luna on March 23, 1943, Tita lived a fulfilling life filled with love, care, and devotion to family and friends. Tita was 81 years young at the time of her passing.
Tita is warmly remembered by her surviving daughters: Maria De Jesus Harris and Jackie Matthews. Her memory is cherished in the hearts of her eleven beloved grandchildren: Victor Harris, Cynthia Harris, Nancy Harris, Kimberly Leyva, Caroline Moncloa Ramirez, Karla Matthews, Crystal Marie Matthews Lyerla, Paul Matthews Jr., Illiana Durbin, Samantha Abshagen and Patricia Abshagen.
Tita also leaves behind eighteen great grandchildren: Evening Ramirez, Vivian Alzuarte, Lilian Alzuarte, Destiny Abshagen, Desirae Aguayo, Derek Aguayo, Stephen Wills, Christopher Wills, Serena Williams, Savannah Williams, Joey Williams, Jose Guzman, Raquel Harris, Mario Harris, Maya Harris, Luna Harris, Steven Harris and Max Matthews.
She is preceded in death by her loving sons, Paul Matthews and Jose Cruz Arredondo, her caring sister, Juana Luna, and her dear grandsons, Steven Lee Matthews and Derek Anthony Matthews. Her surviving niece, Maria Del Carmen Luna, also holds dear Tita's memory.
Tita was a woman known for her warmness and unconditional love. She would wake up every morning before the crack of dawn. She would go sit outside and have a cup of coffee or two, and soak in the sun coming up and the birds chirping. She loved relaxing by watching her novelas and crocheting - making doilies for everyone. Another thing Tita enjoyed was sneaking away to play Bingo either at the Bingo Hall or at my Tia Martha's hoping to win some Princess House. Above all, the cause closest to her heart was her family, to whom she was fiercely devoted and steadfastly supportive.
Those wishing to pay their respects can do so at a viewing scheduled on January 18, 2025 at 3:00 PM in El Paso at San Jose Funeral Home. We invite all to come and commemorate Tita's life, sharing stories of her love, strength, and deep devotion to family.
We mourn her passing deeply, yet take solace in the many wonderful moments we shared with her throughout her life. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her back just as deeply. May Maria Del Carmen Arredondo's soul rest in eternal peace.
