Feb. 2, 1928 - Nov. 4, 2018 Resident of Martinez, CA.
Maria Conrady died peacefully surrounded by her family. Born in Porcari a province of Lucca, Italy, she is one of 5 children born to Luigi and Precisa Della Maggiora. She is sur- vived by her sister Angelina Tocchini of Porcari, Italy, her sister Claudia Puorroy of Acampo, CA and her brother Domenico Della Maggiora of Lodi, CA. Having survived the perils of WWII, Maria came to America in 1958 to find a better life. She met and married Robert Conrady of Martinez, CA in October of 1958. Speaking very little English, the Italian commu- nity in Martinez embraced her. Many remained her friends throughout her life as a Martinez resident. Maria was a humanitarian and devout Catholic and parishioner of St Catherine of Siena Church. A kind and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, her home was always full of fam- ily, neighbors and friends. She was known as a great cook, preparing meals made with fresh herbs and vegetables from her garden with enough for everyone. Gardening was her pas- sion and many of the roses in her yard were clippings from friends and family, each having a story.
Maria leaves behind her three daughters and their families; Nancy Joyner- Jimenez married to Rick Jimenez with five children including sons Stanley Joyner ( wife Jaime, children Mira and Reece), Robert Joyner (wife Ashley children Natalia, Dia and Charlotte), Dylan and daughters Taylor and Brittany Jimenez ; Vanna Conrady-Cossano married to Rick with daugh- ter Kendall and son Shane ; Lia Conrady – McCormick married to husband Carl with son Chase and daugh- ter Rylee.
The Rosary and Funeral will be held at Queen of Heaven Chapel and Cemetery located at 1965 Reliez Valley Road, Lafayette, CA 94549 (PH 925-932-0900). The Viewing Rosary will be at 6:00 pm on Thursday November 15th and the funeral will be held on Friday, November 16,, 2018 at 11:00 am.
