Maria Denise Batista, maiden name Pereira, 51, passed away surrounded by the love of her family.  Born August 8, 1974 in Newark, NJ.   Laid to rest  in peace West Columbia, SC.  Maria lived a life of defined compassion, resilience, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. 

Maria was the beloved wife of Mario Batista, with whom she shared 33 beautiful years of marriage built of love, partnership, and deep commitment.  Together they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and open doors.  She was a devoted and proud mother to John, Brian and Breanna, and a cherished grandmother to Grace Batista, who was truly the light of her life. 

She leaves behind her loving parents, Manuel Morgado and Rosa Franqueira Pereira; her dear siblings, Hilda Pereira, Sandra Barbosa,  and Emanuel Pereira and their spouses; her beloved nieces and nephews; along with many extended family members and cherished friends who will forever hold her memory close.

Maria was the heart of her family-the anchor of the ship, steady and strong through every storm.  She dedicated her life to her children and continually work to better herself and their lives accomplishing every goal she sets her mind to.  Her determination and strength were an inspiration to all who knew her.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially baking.   Maria was an incredible baker that whose kitchen became a place of comfort and celebration, for family and friends., and her community.   She believed in kindness and always making room at the table for one or more- welcoming foreign exchange students, her children’s friends, and anyone in need of a warm meal or a loving embrace.  Her home was a sanctuary of generosity and love. 

Maria’s legacy will live on in countless lives she touched with boundless love.   She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing her.   We love you forever and always.
