Maria's obituary

Maria Acevedo Vanegas gained her angel wings on June 18, 2022 at  Haverhill Hospital.   Maria was 88  years old.

Maria's life would seem too short to many, but those of us who were Blessed to be touched by her understand that her existence and the imprint she left on our hearts exceed the quantity of time that She stayed here.
Maria was talented and adventurous in many aspects of her life. She was an avid caretaker and an amazing mother and grandmother.  When Maria wasn't working or spending time with family, she could be found in Andes, Colombia, visiting her loved ones.  Not a day went by where Maria didn't talk about how much her children and family meant to her -- her family was arguably her most important achievement in life.

Maria is survived by her loving children, Luz Mirian Gallego of Cambridge, Dora Gallego of Colombia, Aleida Gallego of Revere, Betty Gallego of Chelsea, Hector Gallego of East Boston, Angela Patricia Wells of Chelsea, Luz Adriana Gallego; her 14 grandchildren, Diego Escobar, Sandra Escobar, Jonathan Gallego, Paula Henao, Fabio Henao, Lina Velez, Luisa Velez, Juan Velez, Carolina Montoya, Catalina Montoya, Juan David Gallego, Angela Jones, John Wells, Daniel Lucce and 14 great-grandchildren, Andres Escobar, Alejandro Escobar, Ariana Escobar, Veronica Guzman, Tiffany Guzman, Tatianna Guzman, Ariana Velez, Sebastian Farro, Valentina Ramos, Marcela Cristina Stack, Isabella Marie Stack, Jude Jones, Meleah Jones, Josephine Jones and countless friends. Maria was predeceased by Fabio de Jesús Gallego, Fabio Alberto Gallego, Jesús Alonzo Gallego, and Marta Cecilia de Henao. Services will be held at J. F. Ward Funeral Home on Friday, 24 June.
