Mari-jo's obituary

Mari-jo Hart Judd was born May 29th, 1949 to John and Ruth Hart. Mari-jo was one of those people who made others feel instantly seen, welcomed, and loved. She was bright, warm, compassionate, intelligent, creative, and genuinely funny, with a spirit that drew people in and made them feel at home. She had a way of accepting people exactly as they were and loving them fully.

She grew up in Clinton, Iowa with her four sisters she so lovingly adored.  A National Champion Baton Twirler, Mari-jo later went on to lead the Hartbeats Baton Twirling Troupe in Clinton, Iowa, where she shared her passion and talent with so many others. Her creativity was also reflected in her academic achievements, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design, a field that beautifully matched her eye for beauty, imagination, and warmth.

Alongside her beloved husband, Robert Allen Judd, she was also a dedicated supporter of the veteran community, a cause that meant a great deal to both of them.

She loved her family fiercely and never stopped believing in dreams, possibility, and the things that brought magic into life. She was deeply passionate about politics, absolutely adored The Wizard of Oz, and had a lifelong love of fairies and all things whimsical. More than anything, the roles she treasured most were being a wife, a mother, and a grammy, and a sister.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Allen Judd, who passed away in August 2024. She is survived by her son, Tim Judd (Kara Opheim); her daughter, Alys (Justin); her cherished grandchildren, Klein and Lauren, and her sisters: Joni, Lori, Tori, and Marci.

A dessert selection will be provided by the family at her Celebration of Life. Guests are warmly welcome to order additional food or beverages from the restaurant at their own discretion.

Flowers may be sent to Rastrelli’s Restaurant for Mari-jo Judd’s Celebration of Life. Those wishing to honor Mari-jo through a memorial contribution to assist with memorial expenses may mail donations to Tim Judd, 3210 Home Ave, Berwyn, IL 60402.
