Marguerite "Maggie"'s obituary
Marguerite "Maggie" Janice Atkinson, of Montgomery, Texas, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the age of 79.
Born on August 6, 1946, Maggie was raised in Houston, Texas, by her loving parents, Lester “Jimmy” and Marguerite Brouillette. She graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1966 and later met her lifelong partner, Zollie Atkinson, while working at W.S. Bellows Construction. They married on February 22, 1975, and joyfully celebrated 50 years of marriage this year.
Maggie was a vibrant soul who thrived on staying active and connected. She built a successful career as an Outside Sales Representative, beginning in advertising and later transitioning to gift and décor sales across Texas until her retirement in 2021. Known for her magnetic personality, Maggie truly knew everyone—and everyone adored her.
She had a passion for shopping, whether at malls, boutiques, the Dallas Market, or the Houston Home & Garden shows. Maggie had a gift for making life beautiful, and this passion, along with her artistic eye, radiant smile, and cheerful spirit, enhanced everything she touched. That, along with her deep love for her family, her pets, and her friends, were her greatest superpowers.
And she absolutely loved to dance—taking every opportunity to do so with joy and flair.
Maggie is survived by her husband, Zollie; their two daughters, Melissa and Kristen; six grandchildren—Caleb, Kaylee, Peyton, Aaliyah, Gavin, and Nicholas; two great-grandchildren—Ryder and Wade; and Tobias McCurry and Chloe McCurry. She poured her heart and soul into loving each of them wholeheartedly.
We invite you to join us in honoring the remarkable life of Maggie at the Bonterra at Woodforest Clubhouse (300 Bonterra Blvd, Montgomery, TX 77316), on Saturday, September 6th from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM.
