Margarita's obituary
In Loving Memory of Margarita Ramirez
A Life Well Lived
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Margarita Villagomez de Ramirez, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and godmother, who departed this life on February 20, 2025. Born on April 13, 1947, Margarita was a force of nature.
Margarita was born in Michoacan Mexico to Maximino and Demetria Villagomez. She was the eldest child with many beloved brothers and sisters. At age, 19, she came to Chicago at the behest of her god parents, Ramon and Alicia Corona, who raised her as their own child. After over 30 years of the cold Chicago weather, Margarita decided it was time to move somewhere warmer. In 2000, she moved to Katy, Texas.
When Margarita arrived in the United States, in 1966, she did not speak English or drive, but she learned both and was able to flourish. Without formal education, Margarita initially found herself employed in factory work. But, with her seamstress training, she was able to forge a career and run a business of her own. She worked for an employer during the day then would return in the evening to work tirelessly on her own projects. You would often find her at her so-loved sewing machines late into the evenings and on weekends. She finally retired in 2017. She became a US Citizen in 2019.
She is survived by her children Veronica M. Ramirez, Nora H. Ramirez-Matranga and Jesus M. Ramirez and her only grandchild, Emmanuel X. Ramirez. Margarita is also survived by her only sister, Maria Luisa Villagomez, her brothers Leopoldo Villagomez, Jose Villagomez, Argelino Villagomez, Maximino Villagomez and Adalberto Villagomez. She is predeceased by her brothers Jorge Villagomez and Gustavo Villagomez. She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews and godchildren. She was especially close with her sister-in-law Maribel Villagomez and loved her like a sister.
Though Margarita may no longer walk among us, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. We find solace in the beautiful memories.
Please join us in celebrating Margarita’s life.
