Midge's obituary
Margaret “Midge” Ann Stonecipher (nee Beaver) passed away peacefully at her home in Lafayette, LA on September 30, 2024 at the age of 75. She will be greatly missed.
Midge was born on February 24, 1949. She grew up in rural Iowa on a farm where she loved riding her horse, King. She participated in 4-H, among other clubs. She graduated from Oskaloosa Senior High and went on to study at University of SW Louisiana where she graduated with a Bachelors.
Midge was the owner/director of Acadiana Learning Center for 20 years. She was proud to be a business owner and loved teaching children. Midge was an extremely hard worker and dedicated to her calling. She helped shape many young lives over the years.
Midge was very generous and loving and would bend over backwards to help her family and friends. She loved being a mother and was always exceedingly proud of her children. She enjoyed spending time in her garden in the cooler evenings, sometimes late into the night. Midge enjoyed watching romance movies and documentaries. She loved animals of all shapes and sizes, spending time with her family and friends, and listening to music.
Midge is survived by her husband, George Stonecipher, her three children, Amy Andaya (Romy “Skip”), Phillip Stonecipher (Rachel), and Todd Stonecipher (Carol); three grandchildren, Alyssa (Eddie) Rocha of Magnolia, TX, Quinn Stonecipher and Bryce Stonecipher of Denver, CO; one great grandchild, Adelaide Rocha; her 50+ lb. rescue dog, Shaya; one brother, Michael Beaver of Hot Springs Village, AR, one sister, Janice Hoover, of Kirkwood, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
Midge was preceded in death by her parents, Lois and Maurice Beaver; her sisters, Susan Beaver and Carroll Whetstine; her brother Ron Dage; and her first husband, Phillip Ireland.
She loved to give gifts “just because” she was thinking of you. Instead of a service, we would ask that you remember her by doing something nice for someone else “just because”, spend some time with animals, or out in nature. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her name to Hospice of Acadiana or a local animal shelter.
We would like to thank the amazing angels at Hospice of Acadiana and their Calcutta House for all the love, support and compassionate care for our mother and our family.
