Margaret's obituary

Margaret Alene Smith Lovins, age 99, of Lenoir went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Gateway Rehabilitation and Healthcare surrounded by family. She was born April 16, 1923 in Caldwell County to the late Julius Asberry Smith and Mary Emma Austin Smith. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Fritz T. Lovins, Sr.; eight sons, Jimmy Lovins, Wayne Lovins, Roger Lovins, Paul Lovins, Mike Lovins, Carl Lovins, Fritz T. Lovins, Jr., Ed Lovins, and one infant son; one daughter, Carolyn Younce; six brothers, Lois G. Smith, Julius Smith, Paul Smith, Parks Smith, Harless Smith, and Gwyn Smith; and two sisters, Ila Smith, and Clarine S. Watson.

Mrs. Lovins retired from Broyhill’s Lenoir Furniture Corp. and was a faithful member of Yadkin Valley Baptist Church. She loved working in her flowers, canning, baking, and cooking for her family. While healthy she taught Sunday School, worked Vacation Bible School, and loved to cook for Homecomings at the church.

Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Rev. R.J. Lovins and wife Janice; and Rev. Garry Lovins and wife Debbie, ❤️Daughter in laws Joyce Lovins, and Betty Lovins, and Son in law Leonard Younce all of Lenoir; twenty-nine grandchildren; sixty-two great-grandchildren; thirty-seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Garry Lovins, Rev. Leonard Younce, and Rev. Keith Phelps.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Blue Ridge Memorial Park conducted by Rev. Garry Lovins.
