Margaret's obituary

With profound sadness and heavy hearts, our family announces the passing of Margaret Rose Rosati. After a courageous, years-long battle with pulmonary illness, Margaret found peace on December 8, 2025, in Bend, Oregon.

Born to Vernie Pomeroy Moreland and Samuel J. Moreland, Margaret grew up surrounded by love and family. She married the love of her life, Alphonse (Al) Rosati, on June 15, 1968, and together they shared more than forty wonderful years until his passing in 2008. Their devotion to one another remains an enduring inspiration to all who knew them.

Margaret graduated from Lockport Senior High, Class of 1964, and continued her education at IBM Data Processing School in 1965. She dedicated over three decades to the corrugated manufacturing industry, retiring from Jamestown Container Lockport and International Paper (Temple Inland). Margaret’s work ethic and commitment were matched only by her zest for life outside of work. She was an avid sports enthusiast, finding joy in golfing, bowling, and playing in Lockport’s baseball leagues.

Family and friends were the heart of Margaret’s world. She treasured every memory and held close the bonds of years past. Though moving across the country was difficult, Margaret found comfort in daily FaceTime calls with her granddaughter and great-grandson, bridging the miles with love. One of her happiest recent adventures was a cross-country drive back to western New York with her best friend, reuniting in person with cherished family and friends.

Margaret’s spirit of adventure flourished while living in San Diego and Bend with her daughter’s family. She found joy in exploring California, Oregon, and Washington, and created unforgettable memories traveling to the many islands of Hawaii and as far as Japan. The West Coast brought her a new sense of peace with nature surrounding her daily—first by the ocean, then among the mountains. Margaret loved cheering on her grandsons at their sporting events and was a constant source of support for her daughter’s family, contributing in countless meaningful ways. She especially loved spending days with her grand-dog Sandie. She also found community in Bend, playing pinochle on Fridays, attending church each week, and joining friends and family on road trips to explore the beauty of the region.

Margaret is survived by her children, Mary Margaret (Stephen) Blackmarr and Alex J. Rosati; her grandsons, Keegan and Cullen; her granddaughters, Ashley and Serenity; and her great-grandson, Austin Joseph Morgott. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Joan Moreland; her godsons, David Bartholomew and Mark Alberti; and a large extended family including ten nieces and nephews, nineteen grandnieces and nephews, and twelve great-grandnieces and nephews. Margaret leaves behind her beloved friends, Barbara Bartholomew, William DeCesare, and Nancy Anshutz (Bend).

Our family is deeply grateful for your love and prayers. Margaret will forever remain in our hearts, and we find comfort in knowing that, after seventeen long years, she is reunited with her beloved Al. Services and Rite of Committal will be held at Cold Springs Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
