Peggy's obituary
Margaret "Peggy" Palese (nee Campbell), passed away on April 28, 2015. Born in 1943, Peggy's zest for life and tenacious spirit have left an indelible imprint on those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Peggy was a woman of determination. Despite a challenging upbringing, she exuded an unfaltering work ethic, initially as a cashier at a grocery store and eventually as a Blackjack dealer in Atlantic City, NJ. Peggy's resolve extended to her personal life as well. After navigating a divorce in 1986, and suffering from the death of her 11 year old son, Billy, in 1990, she somehow found the strength to keep moving forward , a testament to her character and resilience.
Known for her love of sipping unsweetened tea, her creativity including making many holiday creations in ceramics, and her incredible sewing skills where she made outfits for herself and her family, and as the party-lover that she was, she decorated for parties, holidays, birthdays, and making halloween costumes for her children. These made special and cherished memories.
Peggy was a woman of simple pleasures. She enjoyed activities such as dancing with friends to taking leisurely walks, always with laughter and sense of humor. Her favorite games were those she played with her grandchildren, a reflection of her undying love for family and her way of nurturing those bonds.
She had a fondness for Victorian art style photos and jewelry and was a fan of the television shows like The Love Boat, Cagney & Lacey, and Law & Order, Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley as well as daytime soap operas. Her love for music was epitomized by the song Build me up buttercup and other tunes throughout the 50's, 60's and 70's that often filled her home and her heart.
Margaret is survived by her beloved daughters, Christina (Palese) Gerety (John), and Teresa (Palese) Borneo (Michael). As well as grandchildren: Danielle Palese, John Gerety 3rd, William Gerety, Veronica Gerety, Daisie Stein, Tristan Stein, Sierra Stein, and great grandchildren: Antonio Milec, Armani Ahmad
She was predeceased by her son, William Palese II, and her father William B Campbell and her mother Harriet Campbell (nee Clifford).
Her legacy is ingrained by her enduring spirit of perseverance, the will to keep going, never giving up, and continuously striving for improvement. It is with a heavy heart we acknowledge her diagnosis with Alzheimer's diagnosed in approximately 2010, a battle she faced with the same bravery and spirit that characterized her life.
Her favorite color, blue - like her eyes, serves as a poignant reminder of the vibrant woman she was. Peggy's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who loved her, but her spirit lives on. Her impact will continue to resonate in the lives of those she touched and across the generations she leaves behind.
