Margaret's obituary
June 2nd, 2024 at 12:20 am Jesus came to take my beautiful Mama home. She is with Daddy now and I know there is a huge celebration in heaven.
She was an amazing woman, handle 6 kids with love, ease and grace. Always a lady unless you messed with her husband or kids, then her Irish came shining through. She was strong, beautiful, loving and the best advocate you could ever have on your side. She was funny, man was she funny! She loved music and was always singing and dancing around the house. She loved to read and gave us all a hunger to learn. Whenever we had questions about any topic, she would say, let’s look it up and head to the many, many books she always had. Some of my favorite memories.
Mama and Daddy met when Mama was 11 and Daddy was 15. He thought she was just another snot nosed kid, until she grew up that is. As he always put it, VaVaVoom! They married in 1955 when Mama was 18 and Daddy was just out of the army. They raised 6 kids, had their ups and downs, and completely adored each other to the very end. Just two kids that moved from their home town in Pennsylvania to Fort Lauderdale, 3 kids in tow. Those two kids created a family that, at last count, was over 110 of us and still growing.
Mama’s favorite place was outside, she loved swimming, some of my fondest memories are on Fort Lauderdale beach, boating and gardening. The best green thumb I have ever seen. We would go on walks and she would see a plant, bush or tree that she liked, take a small clipping and the next thing we knew it was growing somewhere in the yard.
What a mom she was, we could always count on her voice to cheer us on at every game or event we were involved in. She always stood by us, it didn’t matter if we were right or wrong, she would go to bat for us. If we happened to be wrong, she wouldn’t admit to it until we got home then she would talk to us in hopes we learned from it. Try that with 6 active kids.
I could go on and on about this amazing woman, but for now, know she is forever loved, forever missed and we are eternally grateful that she was our mom/Mema. God bless you and keep you, Mama, until we meet again! Your loving daughter.
