Peggy's obituary
Margaret L. "Peggy" Mrozla, 97, of San Francisco, CA, passed away in her home on July 12, 2021, from heart failure, attended by her daughter, Peggy, and her granddaughter, Tanya. Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Stephen G. Mrozla; parents, Margaret A. and Joseph P. Clavin; sister, Elizabeth L. May; and brother, Thomas L. Clavin. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret E. "Peggy" Lawrence; granddaughters, Ifetayo Tanya Hill-Roy and Danica G. Wright; great-granddaughter, Wynter A. Woods; and several nephews, great-nephews and -nieces. Peggy was a devout Catholic; her faith sustained her throughout her life. She worked her entire adult life, often at multiple jobs. At age 39, she found employment with the local VA Hospital as a clerk typist and through prayer, diligence, hard work, and confidence in her own abilities, she rose quickly through the ranks all the way to Personnel Officer (head of HR). Her VA career required several relocations. Starting from Miles City, MT, she transferred to White City, OR; to San Francisco, CA, where she purchased a home; San Diego, CA; Fayetteville, NC; and finally, to Columbia, SC. While in San Francisco, she found community in the love and vibrancy of St. Benedict Deaf Center, now St. Benedict Parish for the Deaf, though she was not deaf herself, and she maintained those ties wherever she went. After retiring from the VA at age 62, she returned to her home in San Francisco. Her volunteerism there led to yet another paid job which she continued until age 80, when she finally retired for good. Peggy was a very caring person who deeply believed that respect, fairness and justice were birthrights of every human being. In the late 1960s, she was involved in the UFW grape boycott campaign and the civil rights movement through Sacred Heart Parish. She was generous in her support of schools for Native American children, as well as foster children abroad. Lastly, she was ever the most loving, generous, and kind mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will remain forever in our hearts.
