We took out small loan to pay for mom's funeral arrangements. My dad is retired and is on a fixed income that he gets from Social Security and a small amount from his pension. Unfortunately when dad retired he lost his life insurance policies that he had on mom so he did not have those to pay for funeral costs.
My dad has been devoted to my mom everyday of their 48 years of marriage. He spent his days going back and forth to the nursing home make sure she ate her meals (as much as she could) and to spend as much time with her as he could. I watched him hand feed her when she could no longer feed herself, bring her favorite sweet items just so she would eat something. She is his best friend! To quote my daddy "There will never be another like her"! If daddy was able to take her of her by himself at home he would have...we tried for a while but moms needs were far greater than what we could handle on our own.

I want to say thank you to staff of Baton Rouge Hospice and of Ascension Oaks Nursing home for being such compassionate caring people.
