Margaret's obituary

Margaret Ellen McEleny Ransley

Passed away from this life on August 22, 2023 in Parma, ID with family by her side. Beloved mother of Michael Ransley and his wife Janie Ransley of Parma, Susan McBride and her husband Tab McBride of Santa Rosa, CA and part-time in Middleton, ID and Anne Bittner and her late husband Al Bittner of Hollister California. She leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 17 great grand children; many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Delbert Ransley and her brother Jim McEleny.

Margaret was born in Chicago, IL on March 25, 1931. She attended Holy Redeemer Elementary School in Evergreen Park, IL and Loretta High School in Chicago, IL. Margaret met her husband Del, while she was a flight attendant in Los Angeles California. After marrying Del, Margaret became a successful real estate agent earning top sales person awards. In 1970 the family moved to Idaho where they raised their three children on a cattle ranch. Margaret decided to attend college while she was a teaching aid for a second grade classroom. She attended Boise State University on a scholarship after her work day and during the summers to receive her BA degree four years later. She was so proud to make the Dean’s list for strong academic success. After teaching for seven years she decided to pursue a masters degree which she earned from Seattle University. After receiving her degree Margaret took a position as principal of Sacred Heart School in Boise Idaho. While at Sacred Heart she was responsible for many school improvements and starting their successful pre-school program. Margaret was highly respected by her colleagues for her dedication, professionalism and inspiration. Margaret and her husband enjoyed visiting several states while traveling in their motor home after retirement. They also had the joy of travel by ship and visited many amazing countries. Margaret lived independently into her 90’s and was always ready to have fun with friends. She was dedicated to her “Red Hat Club” friends and loved playing bingo in the clubhouse. She was calm and clever and never slowed down until she lost her long battle with cancer. Her humor and witt were a constant that her family and friends adored. Margaret embraced the catholic Community and loved attending mass.

In accordance with Margaret’s wishes, a service will take place on September 16 at 11:00 at the Nampa Funeral Home 415 12th Avenue Nampa, ID with burial immediately following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery on South Powerline Road Nampa, ID. A celebration of life will take place directly after the services at the clubhouse in her treasured residential community of Gold Crest Estates located at 722 North Cambridge Street, Nampa.
