Marge's obituary

Margaret “Marge” Catherine Leesemann of Sun City Center, FL, died December 29, 2020 in her 94th year. Marge was born in Pittsburgh, PA to Elmer H. & Mary Catherine Braun. She was preceded in death by her first husband Martin Collins and second husband William, her daughters Susan Gozdick and Linda Wiekhorst, stepdaughter Karen Simonin, her sister Eleanor Rundquist and Niece Carol Rundquist. Marge is survived by her children and their spouses Patricia Burgio (Louis), Lorraine Coady (Bart), John Collins (Regina) Lisa Gonzalez (Joseph), step children, Nancy Palcenski (Donald), Stu Leesemann, son in-laws, George Gozdick, Wayne Wiekhorst, Glenn Simonin. She is also survived by 9 Grandchildren, 5 Step Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, 11 Step Great Grandchildren, and a Niece.

Marge Graduated as a Registered Nurse from Adelphi University/US Cadet Nurse Corps in 1948, and worked at French Hospital, Flushing Hospital and Deepdale Hospital in NY as well as serving as a Ship’s Nurse on many US Army & Navy Vessels. After WWII she worked on USNS General Blatchford transporting displaced persons from Bremerhaven, Germany and Genoa, Italy to the USA (NYC, Boston & New Orleans) and South America. Marge also spent many years volunteering her time to many organizations such as Friends In Service Helping (FISH) of Babylon, NY; Pastoral Care at Good Samaritan Hospital, West Islip, NY; Adult Reading Program at Suffolk County Libraries, and Math Tutor at Safety Harbor, FL, Middle School. She also enjoyed serving as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector for over 20 years at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church in Safety Harbor, FL. Marge was a long time resident of Flushing, NY and North Babylon, NY before moving to Florida in 1988. Committal service and Interment of cremated remains Friday, June 18, 2021, 11:00am at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY
