Margaret's obituary

Our beloved mother, wife, and grandmother, Margaret M. Coates, passed away surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy defined by compassion, strength, and an extraordinary heart. She was truly one of a kind, the greatest woman, with the biggest heart and the most selfless love for her family and friends.

Peggy grew up in Philadelphia, a place that always held a special place in her heart. She was a proud graduate of Archbishop Ryan High School and carried those roots with her throughout her life. One of her greatest joys was spending time down the shore, laughing and making memories with friends. Those moments brought her so much happiness and peace.

Peggy built her career as a mortgage processor, where her dedication, reliability, and care for others shone through in everything she did. No matter what role she was in professionally or personally, she gave her whole heart.

Family meant everything to Peggy. She is survived by her loving husband, William Coates; her devoted daughter, Jessica Irelan; her devoted son, Jeremy Coates; her son-in-law, Jake Irelan; and her three cherished grandchildren, Emmy, Paisley, and Joshua Irelan, who were the absolute light of her life. Being a grandmother brought her immense joy and pride, and her love for her family was unconditional and unwavering.

Peggy was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on May 12, 2025, a disease that ultimately took her life. She faced her illness with grace and quiet strength. As of 2026, there is no cure. In her memory, the family encourages those who wish to honor her to consider donating to pancreatic cancer research.

Peggy will be deeply missed beyond words and remembered always for her kindness, warmth, devotion, and enormous heart. The love she gave so freely will continue to live on through the lives she touched and the family she loved so deeply.
