Margaret's obituary

“Honor her for all her hands have done.” Psalm 31:31

On May 6th, 2021 beloved Margaret Ann (Hooper) Kokoth found rest and peace with the Lord and her family that has gone before her. Margaret is predeceased by her parents, Mary (Demore) Hooper and Peter Hooper, her siblings, Agnes, Peter, William, John, Raymond, Lawrence and Mary, as well as her niece, Debbie, and nephew, Peter. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and their children.

Margaret was born on August 22nd, 1945, married Albert Kokoth on September 1, 1974. Their first daughter Jennifer Ann (Jones) was born September 6, 1979 and their second daughter Mary Margaret (Kokoth Montague) was born May 30, 1982. Margaret has 3 granddaughters, Aubrey, Kayla and Cora Emmeline, and was excitedly awaiting her grandson’s arrival in September 2021.

Margaret served as an educator throughout her adult life. She worked for Roxbury Elementary School in Stamford for more than two decades. There, she had many friends and touched many lives. She was always seen with an angel pin, a funny hat, a spirited shirt, a costume, silly necklaces or anything else she could create to celebrate holidays and make people smile. She would offer help to anyone in need and always had a smile on her face that made everyone feel like home. Though she is gone, she still touches lives, living through everyone she came across.

Her life was her family. She never missed a softball game, an early morning skating practice or a musical show put on by her daughters. She was at every school event, concert, and celebration: She was her family’s biggest cheerleader. She taught her children how to be gracious, kind, and polite. Margaret always gave her family members the best advice, knowing the right response to any situation.

To her friends and family, Margaret was a model of patience, selflessness, sacrifice and grace. She was an angel on Earth and exemplified what it meant to be a Woman of God.

Margaret will never truly be gone. She will be felt in the breeze on our faces when we are alone. She will be remembered in the scent of lilacs from the kitchen window. She will sing through the music of cardinals and bluebirds and butterflies that flit around the garden. Her voice will whisper to us in the wind-chimes. Her smile will return with every wave that laps up on shore. Our beloved Margaret, is with us always. Our guardian angel.
