Margaret's obituary
Margaret "Peg" Kemper, 81, of Walnut Creek, CA passed away peacefully on July 08, 2023, in the company of her husband Fred.
Peg grew up in Angola Indiana, in the company of her father, Ralph Wendel Jarrard, mother Edith "Edie" Jarrard, Aunt Ida and sisters Phyllis and Patricia. Peg developed retail marketing and sales skills working part time in the family men's clothing store.
Peg attended Indiana University from 1961 to 1964 and earned a master's degree in English. she graduated with honors and accepted a position as cub reporter for a Denver Colorado department store. Her career as reporter took a turn in 1967 when she moved to Washington DC and accepted a position as research analyst for a Washington Think Tank.
She was assigned to a project team in Heidelberg, Germany, working with military and civilian staff. Peg met Fred Kemper, a member of the team, in 1968 while in Heidelberg. They moved to Washington DC in 1968, where they were married. Peg became a stepmother to Fred's three children by an earlier marriage and continued to participate in family matters.
Peg will be dearly missed and always remembered.
Peg was predeceased by her father, Ralph "Bill" Jarrard and mother, Edith "Edie" Jarrard. She is survived by sister, Phyllis Jarrard and sister Patricia Jarrard. Peg requested a celebration of life be held in her honor as opposed to traditional funeral services. We ask all of Peg’s loved ones to join us in celebrating her beautiful life at Mountain View Cemetery on Sunday, July 23rd at 11:45 a.m.
