Peggy's obituary

Margaret Ann Walter Kash, known to family and friends as Peggy, passed away peacefully in her home on November 20, 2025 at the age of 93.

Born on February 15, 1932 in West View, PA to parents Joseph F. Walter and Margaret McCloskey, Peggy grew up in the Roman Catholic Church, befriending the nuns living across the street at St. Athanasius and graduating from St. Benedict Academy Class of 1950, and stayed true to her faith throughout her life. In 1951, Peggy met and married Ernest Alexander Kash, Sr. and made a home in the Pittsburgh area before moving to Wadsworth, OH in 1967. In addition to many years of cooking and caring for her family, Peggy worked as an administrative assistant at the American Heart Association for 22 years before retiring in 2001. She enjoyed reading, watching her game shows, and playing cards. Peggy was known for her generous heart, endless concern for her loved ones, and a gift for sharing spirited conversation, humor, and stories with everyone she came across. She leaves behind many treasured recipes, including her famous pierogies and chocolate chip oatmeal cookies.

Meeting her in Heaven is Ernie, her beloved husband of 43 years before his passing in 1994; her parents, her brother Ralph Freedman, Sr. (Ceil), multiple nieces and nephews, sister Ruthie Freedman, granddaughter Rosie Kash, and many beloved cats named Bubba. The proud matriarch of five generations, Peggy is survived by her devoted caregiver and daughter Cindy Price and granddaughter Sarah Price; son Ernest A. Kash, Jr. (Pat) and grandchildren Ernie Kash, III (Abby) and Jason Kash; nine great-grandchildren Kayla, Mariana, Andre, Celia, Alex, Eli, Edie, Ellie, and Zane; and two great-great-children Kaiden and Talon.

We invite family and friends to join us in remembering and celebrating Peggy’s life by sharing favorite moments, pictures, or stories here on her memorial website. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Ohio Hospice or to her memorial fund to offset final expenses. A celebration of life and memorial Mass will be held at Prince of Peace Church in Barberton, OH on May 9, 2026.
