Margaret's obituary
In Loving Memory
Margaret “Maggie” Anne Hartenstein
March 12, 1939 – June 28, 2025
With heavy hearts and eternal hope, we announce the passing of Margaret “Maggie” Anne Hartenstein on June 28, 2025, at the age of 86. A beloved woman of faith, Maggie was a devoted mother and grandmother, a treasured friend, and a quiet, steady light in the lives of many.
Born in Kinmundy, Illinois, on March 12, 1939, Maggie moved to Texas in her later years to be closer to family. She quickly found a sense of belonging, building a life rooted in worship, fellowship, and acts of quiet service. Her unwavering belief in God shaped everything she did, and she was an active member of her local church — faithfully attending services, joining Bible study groups, and volunteering for community outreach.
Maggie spent her years as an elementary school teacher, sharing patience, wisdom, and compassion with every child in her classroom. In retirement, she continued to serve others through her church, her handwritten notes of encouragement, and the thoughtful care she offered to neighbors and strangers alike. She had a peaceful presence, a sincere smile, and a faith that never wavered.
Maggie is survived by her children Emily Thompson (Bryan) and David Hartenstein (Lisa); grandchildren Grace, Dustin, Ella, and Stephen; and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Helen Davis, her brother, Gerald, and her husband, Thomas Hartenstein.
