Margaret's obituary
Margaret Elaine Cunningham, aged 95, passed away on January 18, 2025, in Rochester Hills, MI. Born on August 1, 1929, Margaret, affectionately known as Margie, was a cherished mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Margie leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, survived by her son, Edward F. Cunningham III (Alix), daughter, Karen Janness (Jeff), and daughter-in- law, Linda Cunningham (Rick). She was a proud grandmother to Richard Janness (Michelle), Amy Freel (Greg), Edward F. Cunningham IV (Rachel), Erin Hurst (Geoff), Lindsay McMillan (Kevin), Ella Cunningham, Erica McCrea (Mike), and Kevin Cunningham. Her life was further enriched by many loving nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Edward F. Cunningham Jr., her son Richard M. Cunningham, son-in-law Jeffrey P. Janness, her sisters Kathleen, Dolores, Sister Irma, and brothers George, Bill, Burt, Ben, and Carl.
Margie's life was marked by her devout faith and her joyous approach to life. A devout Catholic, she cherished her Sundays which were spent attending mass followed by gatherings with family, enjoying hors d’oeuvres, sipping wine, and passionately cheering for the Detroit Tigers or Lions followed by a bowl of pralines 'n cream ice cream. She was the heart of her family, often acting as a nanny to her great-grandchildren, whom she adored immensely.
Her interests extended beyond her family; Margie enjoyed golfing, listening to classical music, and traveling.
Margie's warm presence and her nurturing nature will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her legacy will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched with her kindness and love.
