Margaret's obituary
Margaret Mary Cahill-Di Dio
October 9, 1950 to October 2, 2022
Margaret “Marge” Mary Cahill-Di Dio passed away peacefully on October 2, 2022 in Roseville, California just one week shy of her 72nd birthday. Marge was a loving and devoted mother, nana, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to all.
Marge was born in Queens, New York and lived most of her life in central New Jersey. She graduated from Highland Park High School and worked for many years in Human Resources Management for AT&T, eventually running the recruiting office in Manhattan. At the end of her career, she worked in the History Center at the Statue of Liberty Ellis Island Foundation assisting in genealogical research. After retirement, she moved to Sacramento, California and enjoyed her last years, being surrounded by her daughter and grandsons.
Marge truly loved her family. She loved sharing memories and always wanted to make get togethers special, which included serving delicious meals and special desserts. Her love of politics and history always made for a lively discussion and those topics were always a part of any family get together. She also loved music, film and theater. If music was playing Marge was moving and singing and she passed that love on to her children and grandchildren. If anyone ever needed something she was always there to help or lend an ear. She was a protective and nurturing presence for her family.
Family traditions were extremely important to her and she loved baking her mother’s Christmas Cookies each year and loved telling family stories about her parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. She was quick to laugh and her laugh was infectious.
A truly strong and resilient woman, her presence will be missed but we know that even with her no longer here she is still looking out and protecting all of her family. She is laughing, dancing, and singing in Heaven most likely to a Beatles tune.
She is predeceased by her husband, Eugene Di Dio, her parents, Mary & Patrick Cahill and brother, Neil Cahill. She is survived by her daughter, Eileen Edwards (Jason), her son, Christopher Di Dio (Amber) and her grandchildren, Dylan and Jakob Edwards and Chris, Selena, and Carter Di Dio. Her siblings Patricia Kramer, Mary Cahill (Sue), Dennis Cahill (Teresa), Ann Marie Cahill-Makowsky (Joe), Alice Cahill-Gens (Steve) and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Gathering for the Celebration of Life for family and friends will take place in New Jersey on January 14, 2023. Marge will be interred at St. Peter’s Cemetery in New Brunswick, NJ.
