Margaret's obituary

Margaret Elizabeth "Margo" Wylie/Bryant (née McBride), 71, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025, in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at UT Southwestern in Dallas, Texas, surrounded by the love of her daughters.

Born on February 27, 1954, in Miami, Florida, Margo grew up with a deep sense of compassion and an unwavering dedication to caring for others. She graduated from Palmetto High School in Miami, Florida before pursuing her passion for nursing at Adelphi University in Garden City, New York, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Margo dedicated her life to the medical field as a registered nurse (RN, BSN), working across multiple specialties, including Intensive Care Units (ICU), Pediatric Psychiatric Units, Labor and Delivery (L&D), Medical/Surgical (MedSurg), and the Operating Room (OR). However, it was in the ICU where she found her true calling, spending nearly 25 years providing critical care to patients and their families. Her dedication and expertise left a lasting impact on those she cared for, as well as the many nurses and students she mentored throughout her career. Margo believed deeply in training "the next generation of medical professionals," precepting nurses and encouraging student involvement in patient care, including her own. She often referred to medical professionals as "the hands and feet."

Above all else, Margo was devoted to her family. She cherished her daughters, Carolyn A. Ferguson and Katherine E. Hughey, with fierce and unwavering love. She welcomed Ryan Hughey as a son-in-love and adored her grandchildren: Joshua T. Ferguson (19), Bailey E. Pratt (24) and her husband Michael E. Pratt (25), Jensen J. Hughey (3), and great-grandchildren Nolan M. Pratt (1) and Navy K. Pratt (on the way). She shared a special bond with James K. Wylie, the father of Carolyn and Katherine, whom she considered "Forever and Always."

Margo is also survived by her brothers Tallman McBride (Gwen) and Norwood "Ziggy" McBride (Marie), her niece and nephew Daphne and Tallman Jr., and many beloved aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Patrick McBride and Carolyn Anne McBride, and her cherished aunt and uncle, Cornelia and George Ladd.

A woman of deep faith, Margo’s relationship with Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. She prayed so sincerely that it felt like a conversation with a dear friend. Her faith never wavered, and she often expressed it simply yet profoundly: "I have seen too many people cry out to Jesus to deny Him." She found comfort in knowing that Heaven awaited her, where she would experience Rebirth into the Eternal Life promised through her faith in Jesus.

Margo’s legacy of love and service continues even beyond her passing through her participation in the Willed Body Program at UT Southwestern-Dallas—a final act of dedication to medical education. In her final days, the compassionate nurses of the Medical Intensive Care Unit cared for Margo with the same level of devotion she had shown throughout her career. Carolyn and Katherine remained by her side day and night until she took her last breath at 2:21 p.m., crossing over into Heaven with peace and grace.

Margo will be remembered as a genuinely free-spirited "fiery Irish woman" who cared deeply, loved intensely, and overcame adversity with strength, love, and faith. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her, especially in the lives of the family she cherished so dearly.

Margo's daughters are planning a celebration of life once her remains are returned following the completion of her service to the Willed Body Program at UT Southwestern Dallas in approximately 6–24 months.
