Background
Margo dedicated her life to the medical field as a registered nurse (RN, BSN), working across multiple specialties, including Intensive Care Units (ICU), Pediatric Psychiatric Units, Labor and Delivery, Medical/Surgical (MedSurg), and the Operating Room (OR). However, it was in the ICU where she found her true calling, spending nearly 25 years providing critical care to patients and their families. Her dedication and expertise left a lasting impact on those she cared for, as well as the many nurses and students she mentored throughout her career. Margo believed deeply in training "the next generation of medical professionals," precepting nurses and encouraging student involvement in patient care. She often referred to herself and her fellow nurses as "the hands and feet."
Margo’s legacy of love and service continues even beyond her passing through her participation in the Willed Body Program at UT Southwestern-Dallas—a final act of dedication to medical education. In her final days, the compassionate nurses of the Medical Intensive Care Unit cared for Margo with the same level of devotion she had shown throughout her career. The staff at UT Southwestern also supported Carolyn and Katherine as they remained by her side day and night until she took her last breath at 2:21 p.m., crossing over into Heaven with peace and grace.
Margo's daughters are planning a celebration of life once her remains are returned following the completion of her service to the Willed Body Program at UT Southwestern Dallas in approximately 6–24 months.
