Margaret "Peggy" Blackwood, 84, of Alpharetta, GA,(formerly from Branford, CT) passed away at home on December 16, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Peggy was born on November 5, 1938 to  Alfred and Margaret Poturnicki in New Haven, Connecticut. Peggy was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was fiercely loyal to those she loved.  Peggy was  the center of her family and her ability to face adversity with bravery and grace was her hallmark. It is that strength that will carry her grieving family through this difficult time. Peggy was equal parts beauty and fire. Her pride for her children and grandchildren was only eclipsed by her love for them. She will be profoundly missed. Peggy was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Margaret and nephew Mark Poturnicki.  She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Klaus Lenhard, cherished daughters, Marianne Bock and Carolyn Blackwood, sons in law, Bobby Bock and Brad Jensen, grandchildren, Jacob Bock and Madison Jensen,  beloved sister, Mary Poturnicki and brothers, Alfred and David Poturnicki and nieces Jennifer Mingione, Paula Araiza, Pati Wetherbee, and Karen Poturnicki. She is also survived by brother in law Hugo Lenhard and sister in law Uli Meyer. Visitation will take place on January 5, 2023 from  8:30-10:30 at Porto Funeral Home , East Haven, CT.  Mass immediately following at Our Lady of Pompei, East Haven, CT.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following organizations that Peggy was so committed to during her lifetime.
