Peggy's obituary

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Margaret Ann Worden (Dazzo), age 67, a resident of Scotch Plains, who sadly passed away on June 7, 2024.  Affectionately known as “Peggy”, she was a loving mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and deeply adored grandmother.

Peggy was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 6, 1956. Her family moved to NJ where Peggy was raised in Westfield. Peggy was a graduate from Milton High School and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from Kean University. After graduation, Peggy became a devoted special needs teacher at Bergen Center for Childhood Development. She married her beloved Bobby in 2005 and enjoyed traveling and barbecuing.

Peggy was predeceased by her father, Jack Dazzo, in 2008; her husband, Robert Worden, “Bobby”, in 2014; and her nephew Thomas Declan Dazzo in 2019. She is survived by her son, Sean Longo; her three grandchildren: Ella, Scarlett, Bradley; daughter-in-law, Alicia; mother, Anita Dazzo (Schepis); three brothers, Michael, Donald and Nicholas; three sister-in-laws, Susan, Coco, and Beth; two nephews, Richard and John; two nieces, Anita and Cara; two step sons, Michael and Jimmy Worden; step daughter-in-law, Melanie; two step granddaughters, Annabelle and Samantha; many close aunts, uncles, cousins and several wonderful friends.

Peggy’s love for music, baking pies, jewelry, art, flowers, fashion, cats, and a well made Manhattan will be carried on by all those who loved her. She enjoyed lunch dates with friends, talking on the phone with loved ones, shopping for her grandchildren, family gatherings, listening to classic rock, as well as spending time with her grandchildren and cheering them on during sports and other activities. She relaxed in the summers on Nantucket Island, which will be her final resting place when her ashes will go under the family’s cherry tree to be reunited with her beloved Bobby.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Westfield, NJ on Saturday, June 22nd at 4pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) of NJ.
