Mardouni's obituary

Mardouni H.Sharrigan, better known as Mudd or Mudsy passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on September 7th.

Mudd was born in Massachusetts in August of 1927 and grew up in Watertown with his mother, brother, and sister.

From a young age, Mudd did not shy away from his natural hand at creativity and innovation. Starting at 16 years old, he took his passion and interest in the sea and ships and began developing rigging knives, a life long project he perfected into his late 90’s, sold all across the world.

In 1945 he joined and served the Merchant Marines for 4 years and joined the army from 1950-1952 during the Korean War, to build airstrips in France where the Cold War was heating up.

After returning from the Merchant Marines and Army in 1953, Mudd and his brother John(Shag) formed the No-Mads Car Club out of Allston, MA. Together with many other talented speed-junkies, they pioneered a style of hot rodding and drag racing that is still present and prolific today and for many years to come. Mudd’s legacy lives on through one remaining vehicle located at a museum in Pennsylvania.

After fiddling with hot rods for a while, he transitioned to building homes around his hometown in Watertown, MA and through his building partner, met the one true love of his life Esther and never looked back. He welcomed and adopted her three children as if they were his own.

Esther and Mudd had a true, deep, and epic love story. The one you only read about and hope to have. Esther and Mudd bought 2 pieces of property in Maine, wiscasset which they reside and in Bath, building a beautifully and unique camp we call Polka Dot, for all family to come, share, enjoy, and create ever lasting memories. Every detail of Polka Dot encompasses their values and love and when you walk through the door, you always know Mudd is there.

As life went on, he always maintained an active lifestyle, creating, building, and being active in his families life. He joined the Maine Masters swim club and swam until his late 80s, continuing to show his family the importance of pursing your dreams and hobbies.

Mudd is predeceased by his sister Eve, brother John, mother Rose and father Harry, and many cousins and friends. He is survived by his wife Esther Sharrigan of 50 years, daughter Heide Eriksen and wife Wendy Reymond and grandchildren Maddox, Marion, and Paul; Son Stein and wife Lisa Eriksen and grandchildren Erik and wife Sarah Eriksen and great grandchildren Scarlett and Violet, Micheal and wife Vanessa Eriksen, Neil and wife Brianna Eriksen and great granddaughter Lyla, Danielle Mulcahy and husband Walker Roman, and Nicholas Eriksen and fiancé Shannon Irvine; Daughter Trine Eriksen and significant other Matthew Urbaneck and granddaughter Nina Eriksen and husband Colby King.

Above all else, Mudd always wanted everyone to know how important his family was. To always show up for one another, love, support, and forgive. Mudd was one of the greatest men to ever live and to have met and known him is one of the very best honors and greatest privilege of life.

Family will gather and have a small ceremony at Esther and Mudd’s home to honor his wishes. He will be cremated and when Esther’s time comes, they will “float down the river and be together forever” at our family camp Polka Dot.
