Marco Giorgi, a longtime resident of Oakland, passed away, March 16, 2020, at the age of 76.

Born in Montecatini, Italy, Marco was the eldest of 3 brothers. As a young man, he left his home town but always took care of his mother and father. He worked in restaurants in Italy, France & London. In 1971 Marco joined the crew aboard the Sea Venture Cruise Ship, as a Captain Waiter, that eventually landed in him in the US. He found his home in NJ, where he started his family. He worked in area restaurants, like Le Cirque in NYC and La Couronne Restaurant in Hawthorne NJ. From 1989-1996, he co-owned, Montecatini Restaurant in Oakland NJ, named after his home town. Montecatini was sold and became Cenzio Restaurant where he continued to work. He was still working at Osteria Trevi in Madison NJ before he became ill. He had many loyal customers that came to see him. He was a good friend to so many of his co-workers, employees, and customers. Marco was a caring and gracious host who greeted everyone with a smile. He could brighten your day with his long “hi” or “hello”. It was the way he said it, that made you feel like he cared, and he did. He loved people and everyone that came to see him.

Marco enjoyed sports and played soccer as a young man in Italy. He enjoyed playing team tennis in Oakland and golfing with his friends. Most of all he loved his family, his home and his deck where he would host dinners with a nice glass of wine.

Marco is survived by his son & daughter, their spouses, and 3 granddaughters that he loved dearly. Marco is also survived by his 2 brothers, a niece and a nephew in Italy & Bulgaria.
