Marcie's obituary

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Ana Marcie Sariol on Saturday, October 29th 2022. Marcie was a bright spark in the world that has been taken from us all too early.

Marcie’s exuberance was always contagious, and she touched the lives of everyone who met her in a special way. She was an extremely devoted wife and mother, and a wonderful loyal friend to so many. She will be greatly missed by her husband: Josh Doan, son: Liam Luciano Doan, step son: Joshua David Doan, step-daughter: Grace Doan, parents: Oscar Sariol and Maria A. Macias, siblings: Ana Cecilia Sariol, Ana Isabel Sariol, Diego Renzo Sariol, extended  family members, friends, and many students whose lives she shaped.

Marcie dedicated her life to teaching and was known as a caring, engaging,  and enthusiastic professor. She received her Ph.D. in Management from the Robert C. Vackar College of Business & Entrepreneurship at the University of Texas, Rio Grande. She was an Assistant Professor of Management at Valparaiso University where she taught strategic management and was involved in various community activities. Marcie always embraced her cultural heritage of both Cuban and Mexican Ancestry. She aspired to promote diversity and inclusion both inside and outside the classroom and enjoyed helping develop future business leaders.
