Marcia's obituary
We announce the passing of Marcia 'Mikki 'Melanson, 75, of Old Town, Me, on October 30, 2023, in East Killingly, Ct. She was surrounded by her family and friends and passed away peacefully. Marcia was one of the kindest and caring people. Marcia graduated from the University of Maine in 1998 with a degree in Social work. After graduating, she became a social worker and case Manager at Allie's and Wabinaki Native American Resource Center. She dedicated her life to helping her clients and advocating for their care. Marcia used that same caring and advocating passion to help find homes for dogs. She adopted many animals herself in her lifetime. Marcia enjoyed the great outdoors, especially camping with friends and family. Marcia married twice in her life, first to Richard Maloney Sr. And later to Milton Melanson Sr. Marcia had three sons. Blair Billings of East Killingly, Ct, and Richard Maloney Jr and Milton Melanson Jr., both of Od Town Me. We will never be able to fill the space left behind by her. Marcia was predeceased by her father, Frank Billings, mother, Barbara Clausen, and her sister, Jacqueline Benoit. She is survived by all three sons. Her sister Sonja Clausen, brothers Neil Billings and Arthur Clausen, and many grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Marcia had a special place in her heart for helping displaced animals. Please consider donating in Marcia's name to the Bangor Humane Society, as this organization was important to her. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, starting at 3:00 pm at the Hide-away Cove family Campground located at 1060 North Road East Killingly, CT.
