Marcy's obituary

           In Loving Memory Marcy Torchia

January 13, 1959 – August 14, 2025

With deep sorrow, Rick Mombourquette announces the passing of his wife, Marcy Torchia, who died on August 14, 2025, in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, after a brief battle with bladder and kidney cancer. She was surrounded by love, with Rick by her side.

Born on January 13, 1959, in Providence, Rhode Island, Marcy was a beacon of love, compassion, and joy, deeply cherished by all who knew her. Her life was defined by her kindness and care for others, and her dedication to nursing was a testament to her nurturing spirit and her commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.

Marcy’s passion for life was infectious; she had a gusto for living that resonated with everyone around her. She never shied away from new adventures and approached each day with excitement. In 2014, she embraced a significant change by leaving her longtime home in Rhode Island and relocating to the town of Whitehorse in the Yukon, Canada with Rick. There she found joy in travelling across the country in their RV, exploring new places, and savouring the precious moments they created together. With a passion for cooking, she embraced the regional cuisine of the north country, preparing moose sausage and wild salmon. Her love of the Yukon extended beyond the kitchen, as she could often be found foraging, fishing, and camping in the wilderness, sharing laughter and joy with those she loved around the campfire.

Marcy's spirit of giving was evident through her long-standing volunteer work at the Whitehorse Food Bank. Helping those in need brought her immense fulfillment, showcasing her generous heart and selfless nature.

Family was of utmost importance to Marcy, and she cherished every opportunity to spend time with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

She leaves behind a loving family that includes her husband, Rick Mombourquette; her siblings, Debra Nelson and husband Tom, Richard Torchia and wife Deborah, Lisa Kalcas,

Christopher Torchia and wife Stacey, and Marcus Torchia and wife Jessica Goepfert; and her nieces and nephews, Christopher, Isabella, Nicholas, and Henry Torchia, along with Helena Kalcas, and daughter-in-love, Rae Mombourquette, her husband Mike Carlisle, and grandchildren Olive and Isaac. Marcy was predeceased by her mother, Marcella (Antonelli) Torchia, and her father, Richard Torchia, Sr.

A funeral service celebrating Marcy’s life was held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Swan Point Cemetery in Providence, Rhode Island, in the Redwood Chapel. Surrounded by those who loved her, Marcy was laid to rest in the family plot beside her parents.
