Marc's obituary

If complaining about the cold weather and snow was a sport in the Winter Olympics, Marc would have been the gold medalist.  Unfortunately this is what caused his untimely death, but rest assured he is in Heaven where it's warm and he is fishing and living his best life!

Marc Hardt, the son of Virginia and Robert Hardt was born in Brownwood, Texas on February 27th 1947.  He spent his childhood years in Temple, Texas where he attended public schools and graduated from Temple High School in 1965.  He attended Mary Hardin Baylor University in Belton, Texas where he was one of the first males to graduate from an "all girls" college.  Marc joined the US Army in October of 1969 and attended basic training at Fort Polk, Louisiana and then airborne training at Fort Benning, Georgia.  After his release Marc served six years in the Texas Army National Guard as a paratrooper.

Marc met Carla Porter at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas where they were both employed.  They married April 29th 1971.  They welcomed their daughter Ashley on June 18th, 1973.  She was their only child and definitely kept them on their toes.

Thereafter Marc was a Quality Control Manager for Frito Lay and ultimately moved his family to Hereford, Texas.  After his completion of that contract he became the manager and operator of AgAnalysis.  He  held this position for twenty three years.

During this time his most fulfilling role was becoming a grandpa in 1998 to his preemie granddaughter Mylee Rae, whom he nicknamed "Mookie".  She was his entire life and if you knew Marc at this time he always had her wrapped around his neck.  They had a bond that was inseparable.  He would drop anything to be able to spend time with her and always insisted on picking her up from childcare so she could proudly be the front seat passenger in his truck.

Marc had many hobbies and friends and always immersed himself in whatever he was doing at the time.  He enjoyed being a Deputy Sherriff with his side-kick Sherriff Joe Brown, who was also his neighbor.  He had a passion for taxidermy, hunting, arrowhead digging, putting together new fishing poles and rigs, painting, arts and much more.  He was an avid bass fisherman and always going on bass tournaments and placing in many of them.  He and his wife Carla bought a lake house in Logan, New Mexico where they spent almost every weekend.  He had many friends in Logan and always enjoyed his time hosting fish fry's with the other local men.  He loved those gatherings and they were always big and full of stories, laughs and good times.

In 2004 his daughter married Miguel Batista in Canada and relocated to Ottawa, Ontario.  They later welcomed Degan in 2005, which ironically looks and acts identical to Marc, and then Hudson in 2009.  Marc moved to Southfield. Michigan in 2005 where he spent the rest of his life until his passing.

Marc leaves behind his daughter Ashley Hardt-Batista and son-in-law Miguel Batista, granddaughter Mylee Batista, two grandsons Degan and Hudson Batista all of Ottawa, Ontario, an amazing brother and friend John Hardt and his wife Tammy Hardt of Belton, Texas and their children Benee Adams, Hayley Hardt and Johnny Hardt. His former wife Carla Hardt of Amarillo, Texas and a large amount of friends all over the map.

I know Marc entered into the gates of Heaven greeted by his mother and father, and then by his two sisters-in-law Jimmie Johnson and Linda Porter (who was probably standing, no longer in her wheelchair asking to see his "hall pass" into heaven).  She was feisty that way!

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
