Makiyah's obituary

Makiyah's obituary

We lost Ma’Kiyah Auryel Smith unexpectedly on July 22, 2022 at the age of 12 years old.

Ma’Kiyah was born to Dominic Smith and Joyce Mosley on February 3rd, 2010 in Chicago, IL.  Ma’Kiyah has always been an extremely intelligent child. She attended Indiana Digital Learning, and was on the honor roll and academic excellence every semester. She was even inducted to the National Junior Honor Society in May 2022. At the age of 5, she immediately became obsessed with sports, such as basketball and volleyball. Her favorite activities were playing video games, watching movies, and playing volleyball and basketball. She was soon to start vocal lessons to learn to sing and as much as she didn’t care to draw, she was extremely good at it. Her parents always reminded her that anything she wanted to do they would support it 100%. She was the kindest, most helpful, and loving child to be around. She brought true joy to her family and her absence is irreplaceable. Our family was not expecting this devastating loss and are deeply saddened that her life was cut so short.

We look forward to Jehovah’s promise to resurrect our loves ones in John 5:28, 29: “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.”

Ma’Kiyah will always be remembered by her parents, Dominic Smith and Joyce Mosley; her stepmother Latrese Smith; her maternal grandparents, William and Vendetta Rutledge; her paternal grandparents, DeWayne and Ecole Smith; her brothers, Liam and Levi Smith; her only aunt, Catherine Mosley; her uncles, Cordero and DeWayne Creamer, Damien Smith, and Emmanuel Stoner; and several cousins and friends will all deeply miss her.
